Whistle-blower Protection

As part of our compliance processes, Sustainable Certification™ is absolutely committed to discharging its responsibilities. If we fail to discharge these responsibilities we expect stakeholders to hold us accountable. As part of this accountability we respect the need to protect ‘Whistle-blowers’.

Our Whistleblower Protection Policy is an important element in detecting illegal, immoral or other undesirable conduct (i.e. reportable conduct), and is integral to us achieving good corporate governance.

We support the written reporting of perceived wrongdoing through the chain of command, right through to the Board of Directors, by directors, management, staff and contractors.

We are committed to:

  • Compliance with all relevant legislation
  • Raising and maintaining management, staff and contractor awareness of our Whistleblower Protection Policy
  • Communicating our Whistleblower Protection Policy to all stakeholders
  • Establishing internal controls, systems and procedures to support our Whistleblower Protection Policy obligations
  • Detailing Whistleblower Protection Policy Responsibilities, Authorities and Accountabilities at relevant functions and levels of the organisation
  • Maintaining an open and honest dialogue with those who measure our Whistleblower Protection Policy performance
  • Establishing internal audit processes aimed at Whistleblower Protection Policy initiatives and processes
  • Encouraging all persons to report concerns and suspicions without fear of retribution, and with our heartfelt thanks
  • Ensuring no single person or group of persons is disadvantaged in terms of dismissal, demotion, harassment, discrimination, current or future bias because they became a Whistleblower (whether an ‘employee’ or not)
  • Respecting the right of a Whistleblower to appeal against our conduct to an independent mediator if they perceived they have been prejudiced in any way
  • Ensuring all Whistleblower reports are kept confidential and secure within the law, with the identity of the Whistleblower being kept private
  • Ensuring Whistleblowers receive feedback in a timely manner about the subject of their report
  • Using our Issue Resolution processes to investigate any Whistleblower report
  • Establishing an internal audit process to maintain the integrity of our Whistleblower Protection Policy and processes

The board hereby appoints the CEO of Sustainable Certification™ as the Whistleblower Protection Officer, and this person is to be accessible to all people with concerns which may result in Whistleblower.
